In this short guide, you will learn about the benefits of Azure Cost Management, how to request enablement via our team (if applicable), and additional resources to help you get started.
You need an active Azure Subscription procured through AppDirect and a role (e.g., Billing Admin) that allows access to billing features in the Azure Portal.
What is Azure Cost Management?
Azure Cost Management is a set of tools and best practices designed to help you track, control, and reduce your cloud spending. It helps you understand where your money is going and ensures you're not spending unnecessarily.
Instructions:
- Step 1: Get in touch with our team at help@appdirect.com and request Azure Cost Management enablement as this feature may not be enabled by default.
- Step 2: Once enabled, this setting unlocks the cost management view for users with the proper role and access to the subscription, allowing visibility into consumption data and associated pay-as-you-go rates in the Azure portal.
- Step 3: Once you’ve received confirmation from our team, sign in to the Azure Portal. Search for and select Cost Management + Billing on the left-hand side.
- Under Reporting + Analysis, review Cost Analysis for spending insights.

- Under Monitoring, you can set Budgets to track and control spending. You can also configure Alerts to be notified of unusual spending patterns.

- Why isn’t this enabled by default?
Enabling cost management requires specific configurations, and not all CSP partners offer self-service options due to associated risks. This feature is now available upon request.
